The UK official development assistance budget, also known as UK aid, is crucial to hundreds of development projects around the world. We work to ensure the money is spent supporting those who need it the most.
What we work on
We are working to ensure UK aid is spent responsibly so that support gets to the communities who need it most.
We work with the sector to hold the government to account for how the UK aid budget is spent.
We actively advocate for a return to 0.7% of Gross National Income (GNI) to spend on UK aid.
The impact our work has
Official development assistance has been used as a political football over recent years. Following the merger of DFID and the FCO and several rounds of cuts, UK aid is now being spent freely by the Home Office to pay for refugee costs, something that is against the law.
At Bond, we are working towards a return to 0.7% of GNI as the ODA budget, and for the money to be spent on poverty reduction.
We are working with all major political parties to make sure the next government have the right information and evidence for a return to 0.7, as well as a refocus of funds, with any money being spent in the UK coming out of other pools of money.
We are also urging for the return of and independent department to make sure there is coherence with what is being funded, and ensuring value for money for the tax payer.
