UK government abandons legal challenge to the ICC case – Bond reaction

On Friday 26 July, the UK government announced that it would drop the previous government’s objection to the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Defence minister, Yoav Gallant.

In reaction to the announcement, Bond has released the following statement:

Bond welcomes the UK’s decision not to challenge the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant request for Israeli officials. This decision sends a powerful signal to the international community about the UK’s commitment to upholding international law.

Bond firmly believes that there should be no impunity for human rights violations, regardless of who commits them. This principle is especially crucial where allegations of serious violations exist. This stance aligns with Bond’s consistent support for international justice and the rule of law globally.

We call on all parties to respect international humanitarian law and human rights standards. The pursuit of justice and accountability is essential for building lasting peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Bond reaffirms its commitment to supporting efforts that promote justice, protect human rights, and uphold international law, not only in this context but in all situations of conflict and human rights concerns around the world.
