Bond reaction to IDC report on Aid spending in the UK
In response to the International Development Select Committee’s (IDC) report on Aid spending in the UK, published today (2 March), Abigael Baldoumas, Policy and Advocacy Manager at Bond, said:
“The political decision to spend vast amounts of ODA within the UK takes support away from those who most need it, particularly people already facing poverty, climate change and conflict. Spending money on hosting refugees is vital but must not be taken from the support we should be providing communities around the world.
We welcome the intention of the Development Minister to address this and hope he will urgently commit to spending the ODA budget for its primary purpose of supporting the welfare and economic development of low- and middle-income countries.”
ENDS.
